Rodeo Traditionally Launches Kōloa Planting Days Festival : Kauai Now : Kauai News & Information

For 21 years, the Paniolo Heritage Rodeo at the CJM Country Stables in Po’ipū, opened the Kōloa Plantation Days Festival in July.

This year will be no exception.

July 22, 23 and 24. The Kaua’i Roping & Rodeo Club continues the authentic cultural experience of the lifestyle and unique heritage of today’s Hawaiian Paniolo.

For three days, crowds cheer on high-stakes racing, daring and fast-paced equestrian and rope sports, family fun and extreme excitement at CJM Country’s open-air ocean-view arena Steady. Competitors compete in skill and nerve for the biggest prizes of all time. Our audience experience is enhanced by local paniolo dishes, the beer garden, vendors, exhibits, entertainment, and more.

This year, online pre-ticketing is simple at with our innovative new QR code for one day for $10/person or a full three-day ticket for $25. Keiki, under 18 with a ticked adult, are admitted free.

Friday, July 22, doors open at 4 p.m. The action begins at 5 p.m. with a grand entrance featuring a historical re-enactment with Captain Vancouver, cows and King Kamehameha. Then expect high-priced barrels, broncs, wild bulls, and ropes. The music in the country after the events continues into the evening.

Other actions are planned for Saturday and Sunday.
