Herb garden planting begins at IKGPTU : The Tribune India

A planting campaign has been launched at the main campus of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) to create a herb garden.

Rahul Bhandari, Vice Chancellor and Principal Secretary of the Department of Technical Education, gave instructions to accomplish this task in one month. While planting the seeds which bloom in the hot April-May season, he also asked the university’s horticulture department to distribute them for free during the rainy season from two months.

The Vice Chancellor said that there is a large area of ​​green belt in the university, the planting of medicinal plants as well as normal trees and plants is necessary for the clean environment of the university. He said the university should also supply its harvest to the surrounding rural areas, so that people can also derive health benefits from these medicinal plants. He planted an evergreen ornamental tree on the premises for the warm season.

On this occasion, the university registrar, Dr. SK Mishra, said that maintaining a good environment was also important among the great responsibilities of educational institutions towards society. Dr. Mishra talked about doing more work in the future to protect the environment. The university’s horticulture department had a significant contribution in this planting campaign. University deans, professors, officers and other members were present on occasion.
